The Golden Age of Comics was a dynamic period in Comic Book history. The stories of the Pulp Magazines combined with the artwork of the comic strips paved the way for the new heroes and fueled young imaginations across the country. The Masked Avenger fighting for justice against the Evil Hooded Villain provided many young minds with fantasies of defeating the villain to save the day, and in the end, either getting the girl or riding off into the sunset. The stories have changed over the years with characters dealing more than ever with real-life scenarios that reflect society of their time, but the main theme, good versus evil, remains the same. Everyone needs heroes. Whether real or fantasy, the basic principles of justice, equality and fighting for the common good will continue to live on.
When I wrote the story of Dark Nemesis, the goal was to take the sensibilities of the classic super hero genre and gear it towards the mature audience of the twenty-first century. Although this is not a new concept, Dark Nemesis incorporates the fantastic as well as real-life scenarios and attempts to graphically push the envelope, while using adult themes and language within the superhero genre. Take a look at some of the pages of Dark Nemesis and just maybe you will find a hero of your own.
